Serve with LMI
Engage in our Mission
Executive Director Gris Bailey shares how you can develop women as leaders alongside LMI.
Staff
Leadership Mission International is led by a dedicated Honduran staff team who live out our mission every day through teaching, mentoring, campus operations, agriculture, student care, and community development.
Serving on staff at LMI is more than a job. It is an opportunity to invest deeply in the lives of young women as they build the skills, confidence, and character to lead change in their communities. Our staff members model ethical leadership, create a safe and supportive learning environment, and help students grow in heart, mind, and voice.
We are especially committed to developing local leadership. Many members of our team are Honduran professionals, educators, and LMI graduates who understand the realities our students face and are uniquely equipped to walk alongside them.
When staff positions become available, we seek individuals who are mission-aligned, collaborative, humble, and committed to serving rural Honduran women with dignity and respect.
Volunteers
Volunteers play an important role in supporting LMI’s mission. Whether serving in person or online, volunteers help expand students’ learning, strengthen cross-cultural relationships, and support the daily work of our Honduran team.
Visit as a Team
LMI welcomes select volunteer teams to visit our campus in rural Honduras for service, learning, and relationship-building. Team trips are designed to support the work already being led by our Honduran staff while giving visitors a deeper understanding of LMI’s mission, campus life, and student experience.
Depending on current campus needs, teams may support projects related to agriculture, facilities, student activities, classroom enrichment, or community development. Every trip is planned in partnership with LMI leadership to ensure that volunteer service is useful, respectful, and aligned with our long-term goals.
Team trips are best suited for churches, schools, businesses, civic groups, or families who want to serve alongside LMI in a thoughtful and mission-centered way. Team trips are typically 5-7 days and are all housed in our team house with basic accommodations.
Individual Short-Stint Volunteers
LMI welcomes individual volunteers who intend to stay 2 weeks or longer. Volunteers may bring skills in areas such as education, English language learning, agriculture, business, health, communications, maintenance, or leadership development.
Because LMI is a residential learning community, all visits are coordinated in advance and shaped around the needs of our students, staff, and campus. We seek visitors who are flexible, culturally humble, and committed to serving in ways that strengthen—not distract from—the work happening on the ground.
Virtual Tutoring
Volunteers can also serve from anywhere by supporting students through Zoom tutoring. English conversation practice is especially valuable as students build confidence speaking, listening, and expressing themselves in a second language.
Zoom tutors help students practice real-world communication through guided conversations, pronunciation support, vocabulary building, and encouragement. No teaching degree is required, but volunteers should be patient, consistent, and comfortable engaging with young women who are still developing their English skills.
This is a meaningful way to build relationships with LMI students and support their growth from home.
