Purpose - It is the purpose of Leadership Mission to provide potential leaders with the knowledge necessary to effectively participate in Mission's future; to prepare them for positions of public decision making; to acquaint them with Mission's history, demography, assets, needs and opportunities; to provide a forum to discuss community issues and above all, to challenge and stimulate participants.

Objectives -

• Identify & Motivate potential leaders from the total population of the City of Mission

• Provide a leadership information program for Mission's potential leaders

• Expose these potential leaders to opportunities and issues within the City

• Introduce Mission's potential leaders to both frontline and behind-the-scenes decision makers and encourage discussion & debate

• Build realistic understandings of the role of leadership in Mission

• Encourage Mission's potential leaders to take active roles in the community

• Establish an alumni association to sustain Leadership Mission and provide a forum for ongoing and future discussion of community issues

The effectiveness of personal involvement in the future development of Mission can be enhanced through increased knowledge of the community's history, citizenry, as well as its social, economic and political make-up. It is with this intent that Leadership Mission is presented.

The Leadership Mission program is under the auspices and guidance of the Leadership Mission Alumni Association, Inc. in conjunction with the Mission business, civic, and social community.

Leadership Mission brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds and experience who have an unprecedented opportunity to become more aware of the dynamics of the social and economic changes of today and, ultimately, their impact on this community.  Participants have two things in common: dedication to their community and the belief that the quality of our leadership will determine the future of the Greater Mission area.

The experience in this unique program will provide each participant the opportunity to sharpen knowledge and skills in active leadership, community education & awareness, and service to the city of Mission.  However, the real results of this program are evidenced through over 25 years of alumni who continue to serve as leaders in our community!
